Mr & Mrs Naylor, Armley, Leeds - extension to facilitate an open plan kitchen/dinner
30 July 2015
Problem:
Mr & Mrs Naylor had a P shaped conservatory that in their words “just didn’t work”. As a result they had a kitchen that was too small and didn’t have enough storage, a separate dining area at the front of the house and copious amounts of ‘dead space’ to the rear of the property.

Solution:
More Build surveyor, Lee Billington, along with a number of other building companies, initially met with Mr & Mrs Naylor in the 3rd quarter of 2014 to start discussions regarding the project and works. Mr & Mrs Naylor clearly understood what the problems were that they were facing and had a number of ideas and suggestions of what they wanted to achieve.
It was made clear from the off that a through kitchen / open plan dinner was one of the most important elements to the project in which Lee presented a number of alternative options and ideas / designs. Around this multiple discussions took place with regards to what could work, what was achievable, various options all dependent on what the couple wanted to achieve – they had a problem, did the presented options solve that problem?

Outcome:
3 months spent at the beginning of the journey discussing the alternative designs, layouts, and internal fittings was clearly time much needed and very well spent. 12 weeks from starting the job Mr & Mrs Naylor are now left with an open plan kitchen, dinner with added TV area they are exceptionally happy with and solves all of their original problems and woes.
The space creating design now has a very open, airy and clean feel with large out folding doors looking out onto the spacious garden area that now makes the most of the sun. The new kitchen is a real focal point to the entire home with striking lights and clean cut, cream coloured cupboards that really help reflect the light, bouncing it around the room to the open outdoors. The original separate dining area has now been reserved for a study.

what mr & mrs naylor said about more build:
“We knew what we wanted to achieve but didn’t know how to achieve it. We engaged with a couple of Building companies at the off but were really impressed with Passmore’s & More Build. We got a good feeling at the initial site survey and really liked the full service / project management aspect. Stressful at times, mainly due to the natural disruption of this kind of work, More Build made it as pleasant and easy as possible, reassuring us and keeping us fully up to date regarding the progress of the work. We would definitely recommend you for any future jobs – the quality of work was fantastic, the lads on site were clean, tidy and efficient and most importantly we have achieved what we set out to achieve. ”
